Originally from California, Saul has spent the last 14 years living on O‘ahu, where his life became deeply intertwined with the ocean. What began as casual exploration quickly evolved into a lifelong pursuit fueled by wonder, reverence, and a desire to understand the underwater world on its own terms.
With over 20 years of diving experience, Saul is a PADI Certified Scuba Instructor and Emergency First Response Instructor, certified to teach emergency care for adults, children, and infants. He pairs this training with an intuitive, grounded approach that helps guests feel calm, capable, and present in the water — no matter their experience level.
While Saul is passionate about all aspects of marine life, it’s the octopus that truly captured his heart. Their intelligence and otherworldly awareness drew him into a deeper relationship with the reef — one built on patience, trust, and observation. Over time, he developed a respectful, non-invasive way of engaging with these remarkable creatures, always guided by their behavior.
“The ocean doesn’t belong to us — we’re just lucky enough to visit.”
This belief is the foundation of One Breath Hawai‘i — more than a tour company, it’s a way to offer transformational experiences that connect people to the ocean on a personal and lasting level. Whether it’s your first time in the water or your hundredth, Saul makes each encounter feel meaningful. His ability to read the environment, adapt each trip to his guests, and gently guide marine interactions has earned praise from families, conservationists, and seasoned divers alike.
What makes Saul proud isn’t just helping guests spot an octopus — it’s helping them feel something real: awe, responsibility, connection.
When he’s not guiding tours, Saul continues to study reef systems, cephalopod behavior, and sustainable diving practices. He’s also a strong advocate for reef-safe tourism, marine conservation, and ocean education for future generations.
At the heart of every One Breath Hawai‘i experience is Saul’s belief that one moment — one breath — can change how we see the world.
